Sydnie Turns 8 while camping at Devil's Creek

We have a Memorial Day tradition, which takes us to Devil's Creek Reservoir.  This year was no exception.  We went May 24th - 27th, 2013, and spent the weekend with Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Von, and Julie and Brian, and their family.  The weather was wonderful and the best part, was that Sydnie turned 8.
(I hope she enjoys spending her birthday in the great outdoors, because that seems to be a tradition too!)

Sydnie - waiting very patiently to open her gifts.  She picked what we had for dinner that night, turkey fried steaks with stuffing....

I guess one of the perks of having a birthday while camping, would be that you get to have cobbler for your cake. (Atleast mom thinks it is one of the perks, cause she didn't have to worry about a birthday cake! Whoot, Whoot!)
Sydnie wanted her dad to make a cherry chocolate cobbler, which was delicious!!
Happy Birthday Sydnie!! We Love You!!

Some Pondering Thoughts while Camping

We were fortunate enough to spend the weekend up Blacksmith Fork Canyon with our dear friends, the Monson's. (June 28th - July 1st)  We went up with our trailer Thursday night, and the Monson's came up Friday.  It is kind of nice to be close enough to town, yet far enough away at the same time.  The weather was great and the kids had a great time playing with their friends.  One night I woke up and had some pondering thoughts......

1.  The "Barfuss Curse" may not be associated with this side of the Barfuss family, it must be associated with someone else in Ryan's family...there was not one drop of rain, anywhere.  Not even a cloud to speak of!  It was the complete opposite, 90+ degrees.  The joke in our neighborhood is, is if you want it to rain, send the Barfuss' camping.  The sad part is....we really could of used the rain, at least a little bit!

2.  If the propane is going to run out, it will during the night.  I don't think we have ever ran out of propane during the day.

3.  Last but not least, air conditioning is a WONDERFUL thing!!!

Thanks Scott and Lindasue for a fun weekend!!!

Sydnie's 7th birthday and Camping at Devils Creek

Happy 7th birthday Sydnie!!  Sydnie turned 7 over the Memorial Day weekend....which we usually go camping and this year was no exception.  We went to our usual spot, "The hole" at Devil Creek Reservoir.  This year we went camping with Ryan's mom and dad, and our neighbor Katelyn.  My girls LOVE Katelyn!  It was fun to spend the weekend with her, even if we were trapped in the trailer for most of it.  Ryan's sisters usually go with us as well, but Amy was the only one that was able to come for a night....maybe more will come next year!

Sydnie opening her gifts around the campfire.  I really hope she likes camping on her birthday, I am afraid there will be many more to come.

Opening a flashlight....I don't think she really knew what to think, when she opened the flashlight.  It did go with another gift, but she also had an iPod attached to the flashlight.  It took her a minute to figure it out, but then she seemed very excited!

She really did want a tent for her birthday.  Not really sure why, but she was excited.  We didn't get to use it on this camping trip, due to all of the rain and cold weather.  But hopefully she will get to use it real soon!  Now if she will actually sleep all night in the tent is another question.

We usually go camping in places where grandpa and dad can go fishing.  We found out that Katelyn had never been fishing before.  So of course Ryan took her out.  I am not sure she will be doing it again, any time soon, but she said she had fun.
