Hoop Lake 2011

We love going to Hoop Lake!  It is an annual camping trip to the Unitah's, where we spend Labor Day weekend with Ryan's family.  This year was a little different for us....it was just us, Ryan's mom and dad, and our niece Jordan.  Ryan's sister Julie is getting very close to having her twins, and didn't want to risk being that far from a hospital. (Personally, I don't blame her!!)  Ryan's sister Jill, and her family, have moved to Illinois, and Ryan's other sister Amy, had to work.  So needless to say, it was a little quiet....but very relaxing.

Ryan had only been home from Africa for 3 days, before we took off.  After 5 hours of driving and fighting children, we made it to the lake and pulled right into a camping spot.  It has gotten a little more popular over the years and it always makes me a little nervous, that we may not have a "good" spot.  Usually, someone in the family has gone ahead and been able to get a spot, but not this year.  We also stayed an extra day, leaving on Friday and staying until Tuesday.  It was really nice not having to fight as much traffic on the way home.  Usually it is crazy, and we have few stories, from over the years,  to tell about the traffic coming home...I'll save that for another time!!!  When we got to the lake, it was beautiful.....there was SOO much water.  Von said they have been going up there for 40 years and they have never seen the lake so full!  It made life a little easier, with pushing the stroller around.  I didn't have to push it as far to get to the water!

1st day of fishing....a great day of fishing!  Remie and Hallie were a little scared of the fish.  It took a couple of pictures to actually get one where they were both, kind-of, looking at the camera.

Shirley with her fish...This picture also shows how full the lake was. This is where we were fishing....

....and clear over on the other side of the lake is where we usually go fishing.  We couldn't even get down to it.  Crazy!

Helping grandpa catch a fish...I don't think they were much help.  They kept throwing rocks in the water...which would only scare the fish away.

The mighty fisherman....I think he would purposefully go over there, so he could avoid the rest of us.  Hallie and Remie couldn't get down to him as easily, due to the rocks.

Over the years the pine trees have been dying out, due to the beetles.  Each year it is getting worse and worse.

Sleeping Beauty

On Ryan's flight to and from Africa, they gave them a pair of black out shades to help them sleep.  Rylie and Sydnie thought they were pretty cool and wanted to wear them to bed, the first night....funny girls!  Ryan found Sydnie like this one day after school.  A full day of school must be very exhausting!!

We Love Ice Cream!

Hallie and Remie LOVE ice cream!  We went over to Ryan's parents house to have some family pictures taken, before Jill and Kyle left for Illinois.  Fortunately, we had dinner and ice cream AFTER the pictures were taken.

Camping At Stone - August 5th

Wow!  It is amazing how much camping we have done this year.  Ryan's family planned a boating day at Stone Reservoir, for Ryan's Dad's birthday.  We decided to take the trailer over, the night before and spend the night.  It was wonderful to get away, even for one night.  We were also able to take our neighbor, Katelyn, with us.  I hope we didn't scare her away!

On Saturday, the rest of Ryan's family came and spent the afternoon on the lake, riding the "hot dog."  It was also the last little get-to-together we had with Ryan's sister Jill.  They were getting ready to move to Illinois, later in the week.  It was a great day!
