Rylie's 1st Soccer Game

We had Rylie's first soccer game of the season, this morning. We were suppose to have one last Wednesday night, but I guess they thought we couldn't play in the SNOW, so they canceled that one. We were the blue team and our neighbor Dave Simmons was coaching the yellow team (which was made up of more kids from our ward), so there was a little competition going on, and I wasn't really sure which side to cheer for. Our team is made up from kids from our ward as well as kids from her Kindergarten class.

Rylie enjoys playing soccer. This is the beginning of her 3rd year. It is killing Sydnie that she can't play....hopefully next year. The games are fun to watch. The kids are just having a good time and really not keeping score. Truthfully, I couldn't tell you who won. Goals were scored for both teams. Although, I bet if I went and asked Dave, he could tell me who one. The weather was beautiful and the kids had a great time!!

Easter Fun!

I have always enjoyed the Easter Season. I don't know if it is because we are finally out of the yucky part of winter or if it is all of the fun spring colors that you see. However, Rylie and Sydnie were very excited for Easter this year.

This is them waiting to go to the Millville City Easter Egg Hunt. Sydnie got the ears from school and had to wear them. I do have to admit, she looks very cute in them.

Easter Morning



After church we went over to Grandma Shirley's to have dinner and do our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. We are usually camping with Ryan's family over Easter. However, the weather has been really bad the last two years and so we haven't been able to go.

Sydnie and Rylie in there Easter dresses, just before church. It is so easy to forget the real reason for Easter. I had to keep asking the girls, why do we celebrate Easter. I was glad to hear Rylie say, because Jesus was resurrected. I am truly grateful for my Savior and all that he was done for me and for all that the atonement means.

Sydnie's 1st 4-wheeler Ride of the Year

Since we are in the middle of a VERY crazy week, and Sydnie is home sick. I thought I would take advantage of the time I had and update our blog. These pictures are from Saturday. Sydnie has wanted to ride the 4-wheeler for so long. Ryan has been able to go on a couple of trips already this spring, but it has been to cold to take the girls. So on Saturday he took Sydnie up to look for some turkey's (Ryan has a turkey tag for the upcoming turkey hunt....and he needed to scope them out) Sydnie was so excited!

The Joys of Ultrasounds

Well, we have just started our "Every two week Ultrasound Schedule." We went in this week to see Kathy (who does the ultrasounds) and then to the doctor. I was 21 weeks when the pictures were taken. Everything seems to be going well. She said that the babies are "right on," and all looks good. They are about 5 inches long and 12 oz. Baby A is very wiggly...Kathy said, "Wiggly babies are better then not wiggly babies." We did have her check again to make sure they were girls....it was Ryan's idea, and yes, they are still girls.

I talked with my doctor later and he said that we would be in every 2 weeks from here on out, until I am 32 weeks and then I get to go every week, if not twice a week. We would also be going into the hospital at some point to do stress tests...hopefully that is further down the road. It has been fun to get to see the babies so often. Kathy told us to bring Rylie and Sydnie in next time so they could see them as well. Rylie was very excited about it....Sydnie isn't quite so sure if she wants to go or not.

This first picture is one in 3D. You have to love ultrasounds. While you are in there, you kind of have an idea of what things are and as soon as you get home you wonder what in the world did they take a picture of. One of them was head up and one was head down. In the picture A's leg is on B's head. You can see the leg of A really good.

This is just another 3D picture of A on top of B. A is kneeing B in the back. I hope this is not a glimpse of things to come when they are older!!!


I guess we should come up with some names so that we can stop calling them A and B!

My Older Babies

I was tagged by my sister with this one and I thought that since the majority of our posts lately have been about the twins, this might be fun to talk about my other two girls


Firstborn

1. Where were you when you found out? I was at our Condo that we lived for only 7 months.
2. Who did you tell first? Ryan of course....he was waiting outside the bathroom door!
3. Did you find out the sex of the baby? Yes, a girl. As you can guess Ryan struggled with it at first and needed time to cope with the news. (Things haven't changed much!)
4. Did you have morning sickness? Yes, but I never threw up...I wanted to many times, but never did.
5. How much weight did you gain? 25 pounds
6. Did you get stretch marks? Yes, on my hips...ugh!
7. Did you have any cravings? Salads from Sizzler or the Coppermill (Maybe it was just an excuse to make Ryan take me out.)
8. Were there any complications? Yes, they found an Ovarian Cyst that had to be surgically removed when I was 20 weeks. We have a great picture of the cyst. It is lovely....4 inches in diameter.
9. When and where did you go into labor? I was at our new house at 4:30 in the morning. Ryan had just gone to work at the hospital at 4:00 am. How convenient...he was already there.
10. Did your water break? Yes
11. Who drove you to the hospital? I drove myself....Ryan was already there.
12. Who was int he room for the birth? Ryan, my mom, doctor and nurses
13. Was the baby born early or late? One week late
14. How long were you in labor for? 11 hours
15. Did you have any drugs for the pain? Yes, I had an epidural
16. Natural or C-section? Natural
17. What was your first reaction after the birth? I thought Holy Crap now what do I do!
18. How big was the baby? 6lbs. 14 oz.
19. Did the baby have any complications? Nope.
20. How old is the baby today? 6 years


Second Born

3. Did you find out the sex of the baby? Yes, a girl. Ryan needed more time to deal with the news.
4. Did you have morning sickness? Yes, but I never threw up...I wanted to many times, but never did. I discovered that I save the throwing for the actual labor part. I push and throw up...push again and throw up!
5. How much weight did you gain? 32 pounds
6. Did you get stretch marks? Yes, more on my hips and butt!
7. Did you have any cravings? Pepsi on ice and Chocolate Marshmallow Ice cream
8. Were there any complications? No
9. When and where did you go into labor? I was asleep in bed, just like the first one, and my water broke just after midnight. All Ryan could say was "I just got to sleep."
10. Did your water break? Yes
11. Who drove you to the hospital? Ryan
12. Who was int he room for the birth? Ryan, my mom, doctor and nurses
13. Was the baby born early or late? One week early
14. How long were you in labor for? 8 hours

Baby Update

I just wanted to update on babies. Ryan and I went to Ogden a week ago to see a Specialist, Dr. Andrus. My regular doctor wanted to see me a week later to make sure we understood what the specialist saw. I went in yesterday to Dr. Fowers (here in Logan). Basically all is going well. They have put me on a "every two week ultrasound" schedule until I am 26 weeks. (I am 20 weeks tomorrow). They are watching closely for the "twin-twin transfusion." The way the babies are in there, makes me at higher risk for the transfusion to happen. Dr. Andrus also said that if the transfusion is going to happen it will happen before I am 26 weeks. (Let's hope it dosen't happen!!!) We can do the ultrasounds with my regular doctor, unless some kind of problem shows up. With the "Every two week ultrasound" schedule is that I have to see a lady in Fowers' office that does all of ultrasounds and then Dr. Fowers' wants to see me right after we do the ultrasound. The best part of the "two week schedule" is that the ultrasound lady (Kathy) and Dr. Fowers don't work on the same days. So I have 6 different appointments over the next 6 weeks. One day I go into see Kathy and then the next day I go to see Dr. Fowers. Fowers said I am going to get to know them very well!!

No Need to Change the Blog Title

Ryan and I went to see the specialist down at McKay Dee Hospital today. They were able to officially say that both babies are identical GIRLS!! Ryan is still trying to cope with the news.

Everything looks good. They looked at everything on both babies...the heart, brain, belly, kidneys, legs, arms, upper lip (looking for cleft lip) etc. The babies are also measuring a day apart...which was good to hear. The doctor wasn't too concerned, however, we still have a higher chance of having "twin-twin transfusion" because of only one placenta. There are no signs of it at this point, but he wants us to see our regular doctor every 2 weeks until we get to be 26 weeks. Then I guess we are suppose to be out of the scary stage of the transfusion happening. They were both breech this time, sitting with their heads facing each other, up by my belly button. Their legs and arms were a tangled mess (okay their legs really aren't tangled, but that is what it looked like on the ultrasound.) This is all so crazy!! I have added a couple of pictures. We didn't get a lot of great ones, but they are still fun to see.

This is Twin A showing that she is girl. (You may have to take my word for it...I told you they weren't great pictures.) At the bottom of the black spot is one of her legs and her bum is off to the right. Her other leg is at the top of the black spot.


We are looking for girl names...something that ends in "ie" to go with Rylie and Sydnie. So if you have any great ideas let us know!! Rylie and Sydnie are still voting for Gaby and Abby.

Growing little by little

I guess its my turn to post something this week. I get to stay home and be Mr. Mom this week since I'm off for Spring break. I'm getting a little board today. You can only shovel snow and do laundry for so long until it gets old.

People have been asking to see if Kim's belly has been growing. Well yesterday I took a picture of her to try to document the growth a little. I think she looks great. Every time I see her it seems like her belly has grown. It should be fun the next few months to see the progress. When I look at Kim I'm just amazed about the whole process. She has been great so far about all if this. Well I had better get back to work. There are dishes that need to be done.

Baby Updates

Some may have already heard, but we went in for baby check-up on Wednesday morning. Everything seems to be doing good. They will be doing ultrasounds each time we go in. (Which I guess is one fo the perks of having twins.) We still only have 2 babies in there, for those that have been teasing me about having 8!! They are measuring a week apart. One is 16 weeks 5 days and the other is 17 weeks 4 days. I was exactlly 17 weeks when we went in. They were also smelling each others feet during the ultrasound. That was fun to see. I hope they smelled good!!

We will be seeing a specialist, Dr. Andrus, on March 16th, down at Mckay Dee Hospital. We knew we would be seeing him when we first found out it was twins. My understanding is that he specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Andrus comes to Logan twice a month, but he could get us in faster if we went to Ogden. Hopefully by then, he will be able to tell us what they are. It is killing Ryan. My regular doctor, Dr. Fowers, wouldn't confirm or deny the presence of boy parts. All he said was "don't paint the nursery yet." So I guess we will have to wait two more weeks to find out.

Still Crossing Things Off The List

I have been a little hesitant to put this post on, but Ryan thought I should. I also got thinking that if this is the only "journaling" I ever get done, well then I probably should.

Since we started thinking about having another kid we knew eventually that we were going to have to get a bigger car....down the road at some point of course. When we found out we were having twins, it made more of a reality. We had been looking at a few different kinds of cars, nothing too serious. Ryan had been looking on KSL, in the paper, and had been talking to a few of the dealers around. I did have one request....NO MINI-VANS.

A couple of weeks ago, Ryan went in and talked to a lady at "Axtell's." By this point we knew we really liked the GMC Acadia's but it had to be 7 passenger, because having a bench seat in the middle with two car seats just wasn't going to work. I also got thinking that we definitely needed dual climate control (because we fight over the temperature in the car) and a DVD player for all of the kids to watch. So the lady from Axtell's went to work on finding us a 7 passenger Acadia (or something of that sort). Apparently, the 7 passenger Acadia is more popular then the 8 passenger, and a little harder to find. She called Ryan a few times with a couple of different cars she had found. But nothing was really making us feel like "that was the one." Well, she called again on Wednesday, she had found one in American Fork. Long story short....we now have a 7 passenger Acadia. And the best part is....it is white. It will match all of our other vehicles just great!!






So I am hoping that this will be our biggest purchase on the "things to-do before the babies get here list." Oh, and if anyone is looking for a little car to just chase around in...we would be more then glad to talk to you about our Alero that we still have.
